This 1-day course is meticulously crafted for finance professionals aiming to revolutionize their financial processes and decision-making with AI technologies. By understanding the fundamentals of prompt engineering, participants will learn to create tailored prompts for AI tools that automate repetitive tasks, enhance data analysis, and provide actionable insights. This hands-on course bridges the gap between advanced AI capabilities and practical financial applications, empowering participants to improve efficiency and precision within their organizations.

    Practical Applications for Financial Excellence

Through interactive modules, participants will gain the expertise to design prompts that streamline budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. In addition to theoretical knowledge, the course emphasizes practical exercises, enabling attendees to apply these strategies in real-world scenarios. By mastering prompt engineering, finance professionals can transform workflows, enhance collaboration, and stay ahead in the rapidly evolving financial landscape.

Remarks: Learners are required to bring an internet-enabled laptop for the course
    Objective
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
    • Explain how Generative AI operates and its role in shifting financial work from manual data cleaning to high-value analysis.
    • Identify ethical risks like data exposure and hallucinations while implementing best practices for responsible AI use in a corporate environment.
    • Apply the RISER framework to craft precise prompts by defining specific roles, inputs, steps, and constraints.
    • Use advanced techniques like Decomposition and Self-Criticism to produce accurate budget commentaries and iterative financial projections.
    • Apply the DIG Framework (Description, Introspection, Goal Setting) to systematically analyze large datasets and uncover actionable business insights.
    • Generate Excel Macros to automate repetitive tasks and leverage AI to build interactive, web-based dashboards.
    Outline
Module 1: Introduction to Generative AI

What is Artificial Intelligence?: Understanding the techniques and technologies that allow machines to simulate human intelligence, including voice recognition and natural language understanding.

The Shift in Financial Work: Discovering how AI handles time-consuming manual tasks like cleaning data, pulling information together, and drafting commentary to free up professionals for high-value work.

Module 2: Ethics and Best Practices When Using Generative AI

Risks and Safety: Identifying potential hazards such as the exposure of confidential data, IP infringement, inaccurate outputs (hallucinations), and skill atrophy.

Responsible AI Use: Applying best practices including the use of paid AI versions, following company compliance guidelines, and regularly evaluating AI outputs to detect bias.

Module 3: Basics of Prompt Engineering

The RISER Framework: Mastering a structured method to define the Role, Input, Steps, End Goal, and Restrictions for effective AI communication.

Prompting Techniques: Exploring various methods such as In-Context Learning (Few-Shot), Chain-of-Thought (CoT), and Answer Engineering to achieve more accurate results.

Module 4: Practical Prompting for Financial Tasks

Financial Reporting and Budgeting: Learning to transform raw numbers into clear, structured narratives for leadership and tracking overspend or underspend.

Forecasting and Iteration: Using historical data and trends to estimate future performance while using techniques like Self-Criticism to refine projections.

Module 5: Data Analysis with AI

The DIG Framework: Applying a repeatable process consisting of Description (understanding the data), Introspection (brainstorming questions), and Goal Setting (aligning with objectives).

Data Quality and Insights: Using AI to run quality checks for missing values or outliers and uncovering hidden patterns within large datasets.

    Module 6: Dashboarding with AI

Excel Macros and Automation: Learning to gain access to the Developer tab and use AI to generate VBA code for automating repetitive spreadsheet tasks.

Interactive Visualizations: Leveraging ChatGPT to suggest metrics and build a single-page sales dashboard using HTML and Plotly.js
